Our Commitment

MyHousingRights.ca is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply the relevant accessibility standards. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities and more user-friendly for everyone.

Accessibility Standards

We follow the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) and its Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (Ontario Regulation 191/11), which requires organizations to meet WCAG 2.0 Level AA standards. As a best practice, we target the more recent WCAG 2.1 Level AA standard.

What We Do

• •Keyboard-accessible navigation and interactive elements
• •Sufficient colour contrast ratios (minimum 4.5:1 for normal text)
• •Responsive design that works across devices and screen sizes
• •Skip-to-content links on every page
• •Alt text for all informational images
• •Form labels and error messages that are programmatically associated
• •No content that flashes more than three times per second

Known Limitations

While we strive for full accessibility, some areas may have limitations. Third-party content (external links, embedded resources) may not fully meet accessibility standards. PDF documents generated by our platform may have limited screen reader compatibility. We are actively working to identify and resolve these issues.

Assistive Technology Compatibility

This site is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies: screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver), screen magnification software, speech recognition software, and keyboard-only navigation. We test regularly with these tools to ensure compatibility.
